Michael Lucas, M.D. is a Detroit native who received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1977. He then attended the Wayne State University School of Medicine, where he graduated in 1981.
He then completed his general surgery residency from 1981-1986 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan.
Immediately following residency, he was certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and was also inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Lucas is a founding member of Premier Surgical. His current scope of practice includes gastrointestinal surgery, gastrointestinal cancers, thyroid and other endocrine surgery, complex hernia repairs, and a range of laparoscopic procedures such as gallbladder removal, appendectomy, inguinal and ventral hernia repairs, colectomy, and robotic surgery.
Dr. Lucas is on staff at William Beaumont Hospitals in Troy and Royal Oak, as well as St. John Macomb Hospital.
He has been active in professional societies. His professional memberships include the following: American College of Surgeons; Oakland County Medical Society; Michigan State Medical Society; and the Academy of Surgery of Detroit.
In addition, he has been an active member of the medical staff at William Beaumont Hospital, Troy. He has the distinction of having served as the hospital's Chief of General Surgery from 1997-2009.
