Gari Martinovski, M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. Gari Martinovski is the newest addition to Premier Surgical Specialists.

He was born, raised and educated in the Detroit metropolitan area. He attended the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2008. In 2013, he received his medical degree from The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He then trained in General Surgery at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, completing residency in 2018, after which he immediately joined Premier Surgical Specialists in August of 2018.

As a recent surgical graduate, he is well trained in the latest and best general surgical techniques. This includes verification of his laparoscopic and endoscopic skills by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, in addition to verification of his Da Vinci robotic surgery skills by Intuitive Surgical. In 2019, Dr. Martinovski became a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and was granted board certification in Surgery.

His current scope of practice and areas of interest are broad and varied, including: gastrointestinal surgery; pancreaticobiliary surgery; surgical treatment of gastrointestinal cancers including those involving the stomach, small intestines, colon, gallbladder, and pancreas; endocrine surgery, including thyroid and parathyroid surgery; hernia repair and complex abdominal wall reconstruction; a range of advanced laparoscopic procedures, including gallbladder removal, appendectomy, inguinal and ventral hernia repairs, colectomy, and hiatal hernia repair with fundoplication for acid reflux.

He has been active in professional societies. His professional memberships include the following: American College of Surgeons, Michigan State Medical Society, Wayne State Surgical Society, Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, and The University of Toledo Alumni Association. He also has been active in teaching and lecturing for Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine students and residents.

Outside of surgery, Dr. Martinovski cherishes spending time with his wife, Meghan, their daughter Penelope and their dog, Theodore. He is quite the sports enthusiast, with a particular focus on football, basketball, soccer and golf. Additionally, Dr. Martinovski is a burgeoning outdoor sportsman, learning to enjoy both hunting and fishing.
